Effective immediately, the on-board capacity on Connect vans is limited to a maximum of two passengers at a time to allow for adequate social distancing. This will temporarily limit the maximum number on a reservation to two.

To start riding, download the Marin Transit Connect app on your smartphone. Once you register, you’ll be able to request a ride from any location—to any location—in the service area. We’ll give you an estimated pickup time and plan a convenient route to your destination in one of our Marin Transit Connect shuttle vans. You can track your ride in-real time with the app, and you’ll receive text message notifications about the ride whether or not you use the app.

Additional expansion including longer hours and weekends will be explored and evaluated during the first year of service. Beginning January 2, 2020 Connect service will begin fifteen minutes earlier at 6:05 am to meet the new 6:08 am southbound SMART train at the Marin Civic Center Station.
Ride requests are made using the app. Riders can download the Marin Transit Connect app powered by Via's technology on their smartphone from either the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.
Riders can book a trip for up to five (5) total passengers. Just tap the + passengers icon to add riders to your trip.
If you do not have a smartphone, you can call the Marin Access Information Line at 415-454-0902 to set up an account or schedule a ride. When you reach the phone tree, you may select "2" to set up an account or "4" to schedule a ride.

To start, regular rides will cost $4 per mile. $3 flat fares are available for individuals eligible for Marin Access services. Additional riders cost $1 per rider.
If you plan to ride frequently, you can purchase an unlimited monthly pass for $80, activated at the time of your first ride. Based on customer feedback and use, Marin Transit may consider modifying the regular fare price over the course of the pilot program.
How do I pay?
Customers pay by credit/debit or prepaid credit card, which is entered when they set up an account on the Marin Transit Connect app using a smartphone or tablet. Pre-paid credit cards in the dollar amount of your choosing can be found at any local drugstore or grocery store. For customers who wish to book rides over the phone, please call the Marin Access Information Line at 415-454-0902 to arrange to have an account set up.
Don't have a credit card? As of July 2019, Marin Transit Connect now accepts cash as a fare payment option. Customers pay upon pick-up, and no change is given. Customers are designated as cash-paying during account set-up.
The map below shows the service area that includes areas of San Rafael stretching North to South from Marinwood and Lucas Valley to downtown San Rafael and East to West from Santa Venetia to the western edge of Terra Linda.
Marin Transit Connect will operate with a brand new fleet of accessible vans that can accommodate up to seven passengers or five passengers and one wheelchair. The top of each van will be wrapped with a unique color to help riders identify their van driver. Riders using wheelchairs can enter Promo Code "ACCESS" in the app to provide drivers with advanced notice they will need assistance boarding. Connect vans are equipped with bike racks.
Tips for Riding
Hello Connect Riders! Are you ready to ride? Here are some helpful tips when using the Connect App.
1) If you can be flexible with your time of travel, we recommend booking trips during off peak hours (9:00 am – 2:00 pm) when demand is the lowest. Our busiest times are when the SMART trains arrive, especially in the morning between 6-9 am, and depart in the afternoon between 3:30 and 5:30 pm. These times can be especially challenging to book of you aren’t traveling from the station.
2) Setting up a prescheduled ride series using the “Next Rides” section of the app is a popular way for many riders to set up a ride request. When you set up a prescheduled ride, the system will request a ride on your behalf during the time window you’ve selected. The system will make several attempts to book your ride, but if it isn’t able to successfully book a trip due to high demand then you will receive a text message notifying you that a ride couldn’t be booked. If this happens, riders should continue to request a ride “on demand” through the app until the ride is successfully booked.
3) If you have trouble setting a pick up or drop off location with an address, move the pin in the area where you would like to set the location. Sometimes even a small shift to the left or right will allow the system to recognize the location and book the ride.
We also want to remind you of other services that can support your travels alongside Marin Transit Connect.
-The Transportation Authority of Marin offers a $5.00 discount on LYFT rides to/from all SMART stations in Marin County, including the Civic Center Station. Just book a shared LYFT Line ride and use the coupon code “GET2MART” and TAM will pay $5.00 towards the cost of your trip. Riders pay the first $2.00 and any additional fare above the voucher amount. -If you work in Marin County, take transit to work, and miss your last bus or train home, take advantage of the Emergency Ride program. This program allows you to get reimbursed up to $125 per trip (max of $500/year) to get home. There are no geographic limits to where you live so go ahead and book a LYFT, Uber, or taxi ride and submit your reimbursement form online. Go tofor more information.
